In advance of a meeting convened in the Vatican by Pope Francis to discuss climate change, there have been two significant developments. The first has been a "prebuttal" meeting near the Vatican organised by the Heartland Institute of Chicago, USA, at which strong blunt words were directed to the Pope by Viscount Christopher Monckton, a prominent UK Catholic layman (reported below in the National Catholic Reporter). The second has been an open letter to the Pope by the Cornwall Alliance (www.cornwallalliance**.org/) a UK group of Christian scientists, religious leaders and academics( link below).
